A day out - in the midst of my holidays.
Friday, August 21, 2009

One fact about me: I'm always eating.

Not always, but I'm always hungry. And whenever I go out, I always eat, even when I'm not hungry. Lol.

Eg. eating at my house downstairs coffee shop before going out.

Hehe, it has been my holidays since monday and I was bored cos I ever do was sleep, eat, do work, sleep, eat and repeats. All except yesterday.

Cos Patrik was a dear to bring me out to marina square. :D
He offered for a treat cos he lost something that we betted on. So we went to waraku pasta..

And we ordered their set pasta - comes with soup, a drink, salad, pasta of our choice and another item that you can choose to have! All for $16.90. I would say it's totally worth the price.

See the heart shape! So cute. We think that its deliberate. Hahaha.

My seafood pasta. I think it's nicer that it looks. The sotong is so motherfucking big. The pasta alone is supposed to cost $14.90 already. Laughs!

Dear with his soup seafood pasta. Copy me!

The gratin that comes along with the meal. Inside contains either pasta again or rice. Super yummy. I would have love to finish it if not for the fact that we were already damn full by then. Stuffed. Hahaha.

And then we had to rush to the movie cos we already bought the tickets. Like, in 10 minutes time. LOL!

The movie we caught is "Orphan".

The movie stars Vera Farmiga and Peter Sarsgaard as Kate and John, a couple devastated by the tragic loss of their unborn child. Struggling to regain some semblance of normalcy in their lives, they decide to adopt another child. At the local orphanage, both John and Kate find themselves strangely drawn to a young girl named Esther. Almost as soon as they welcome Esther into their home, however, an alarming series of events begins to unfold, leading Kate to believe that there’s something wrong with Esther — this seemingly angelic little girl is not what she appears to be. Concerned for the safety of her family, Kate tries to get John and others to see past Esther’s sweet facade. But her warnings go unheeded until it may be too late… for everyone.

Warao it's freaking scary lor. Really don't like this type of murder-murder movies and so much plotting and bloody scenes. Eeeewww. But really have to give it to the director for the unexpected climax at the end. The movie is quite awesome in fact. Go catch it if you haven't.

Loves all the movies that we catch together, the quality time that we spend is something I'll never forget. :D :D :D

xoxo,
Irene

Rest of bkk trip!
Sunday, August 16, 2009

Short note: Really don't understand how someone can say that we forced Timo to come along when he was the one who wanted to join us. I was planning it with Fronda along and asked Hweemin if she wanna come also. And that someone still can say that Timo came cos he wanted to do my friend, Fronda. May be a bad joke, but of course it is very offending to say something as crude as this. I don't mind if you say anything bad about me cos obviously, I don't care very much about that someone anymore. But to say that to my closest friend is just really bad. I mean, she doesn't even know you, what has she done to deserve being said like that? I don't wanna say who that someone is, but if you think that I'm talking about you, then it's you. Don't have to come and ask me about it cos I won't bother to reply you. Well for one, I always believe in karma.

Those were seriously the best days spent of my previous holidays lor. All we do all day was - eat, sleep, shop, play, shop, shop, gossip and eat again.

2nd day

Hehe, after the first exciting day in bkk, we can't wait to go for another shopping spree again. By this time, Fronda already recovered from her mini food poisoning episode. We decided to go to pratunum mall, which was a 15 minutes walk from our hotel.

Fronda and I preparing ourselves before heading out! :D

It would have been a 15 minutes walk if not for the catered tuk tuk that they provided us for. Damn good service I feel. Since it's free for all hotel patrons to use.

Spot us at the rear mirror.

Us in the tuk tuk! The traffic in bkk is quite bad. Sometimes, it gets so congested that it takes 30 minutes for us to return to our hotel from just a short distance. Luckily, at night, the traffic is so much better. Else, I guessed we don't have to go anywhere already! We are nice to tip the guy who offered to drive us all the way to pratunum mall though. Haha. :)

Did printed on manicure there!

I love the contacts that I bought there although it looks abit fake. Costs $18 but surprisingly, of very good quality.

Love my wallet too! It says SOME GIRLS HAVE ALL THE JUICY.
I chose the snowflakes design cos it somewhat relates back to me. :D

We walked around pratunum mall which had a grand total of 7 floors. Of course we couldn't finish it at one go. We probably only finish like 3-4 floors before the shopping mall closes at 6pm.

This was the victoria secrets bag that Fronda lend me to shop around all day. All my important stuffs are inside so I really took care of it since there is so many pickpockets around in bkk.

We had matching bags actually since hers is a black version of the pink one I'm carrying. Unfortunately not shown in this pic.

Walked around somemore, bought alot of accessories and clothes. We get wholesale prices for 3 pieces and above so each piece probably costs around S$6 only. Screams cheap.

Timo and I outside the toilet.

By the time we finished, both Fronda and I were dragging a big big plastic bag filled with clothes, clothes and more clothes. But we still decided to go to some nearby shopping centers to check out the stuffs they provide...

Can't remember the name of this building. Anyone, help? There are like alot of people praying around here. Including tourists.

Saw some ladyboy too. Chio right? Some is even prettier than real girls lor. Sad to say.

One thing good about their more atas shopping center is that when you walk in, you feel that you own the whole place because there is just so little people walking inside.

I always see McDonald doing this sign. But it's the first time I saw toyrus giraffe doing this, so I just had to do it. LOL!

See, no people one!

And we walked and walked, felt very tired and hungry after a whole day of shopping. So, we went over to one of the random restuarants and found ourselves with Manhantthan. Quite dumb right? Cos we can eat Manhantthan over here in singapore also. But nevertheless, it was good. Slightly cheaper also.

Timo deciding what to eat, or rather WE deciding what to eat.

We shared the party platter for two. But obviously it was meant for four people or more. Even the three of us can't finish it.

Fried dory fish, cheesy grilled king prawns, fried calamari, fried oysters, fried mushroom.... Nomnomnom. This picture is making me hungry all over again.

Decided to cab back to our hotel to put our loot of the day down.

The clothes in this picture belongs solely to me only. See how much junk I got for myself. I even bought three shoes which I think I won't really wear out cos they are seven to eight inch tall. I'll fall before I start walking in them. Impulsive buy I guess.

Head over to their mini mart to grab some tibits to snack on as we went online to chat with our loved ones and slack.

Timo got himself some water apples. I personally find them damn gross cos the smell is like damn gross but then he really enjoyed eating them throughout the trip lor!

Slacked for a while more and then decided to go to another of their night market, suan lum!

Suan lum here we comeeeee!

This time, got a cab driver wanted to con us to some restuarant again but then we declined politely cos we know where to get nice food at a cheap price. Their very own suan lum place got loads of good food already.

Hot dogs.

Pineapple fried rice.

Tom yummm. Yummy!

Walked around somemore and bought some tees and stuffs before heading back to our hotel again. We then decided that after one long day of shopping, we should pamper ourselves with some massage. Walked over to one nearby massage place to experience their thai massage for 200 baht. It was my virgin massage lor but then I don't really like it cos it is so painful. My neck ached the entire day. Same goes for Fronda. On the other hand, Timo enjoyed himself very much cos he opted for the oil massage and got something special in the end too. Hahaha. :X

3rd day

Wore the tee that I bought at bkk cos I really liked it. Taking photo at the huge mirror in our hotel has officially become a everyday for me already. Lol. Old habits die hard I guess.

Wore the flats I bought too! Love how my legs look like it's stretching forever also. Hahaha.

For the third day, we wanted to go somewhere special, other than shopping. So guess where we went to?? It was not a common place to visit but since we have 5 days in bkk, there is more than enough time to head over to this place......

Which is DREAM WORLD!

It is our "escape" in singapore, their very own theme park. However, this place is really far away lo. So be prepared to pay lots of cab fare to get there. Travelled for some quite time before embarking on our journey to dream world.

When we step foot on dream world, we know why it's called dream world. Because it's like a dream world - for kids.

See their buildings. So cute right?

Everyone is taking photo here. So we had to do it also to prove that we went to this place!

Pink flamingoes and waterfalls. It was a very pretty place to be in.

Other than these awesome infrastructures, there were a couple of rides also. Including scary ones. But unfortunately, we didn't take pictures of them lo. And the queue wasn't very long also. We took all of the rides there that day.

Fronda and I took turns to play on the swing that was latched onto a tree.

Really very fantasy right? We so agree. Was very impressed.

Even their bushes were trimmed and cut into a teddy with a hat. I wonder how much time the gardener has to spend trimming these bushes everyday. XD

Timo attempting to pull out the sword to self proclaim himself as king.

They say this is my twin sister. Oh wells, better than supersize me.

There is even a mini zoo inside the theme park. Shocking or what?

I see moomoos everywhere.

Labbits!

And even turtles. Poor them to be trapped inside the small enclosure. :(

So we bought animal feed for them. But it is damn scary to see how they fight among each other to get to us.

Eat until like they damn hungry like that. Like never eat for bery bery long already.

Meanwhile, timo was having a time of his own. Doing what he love best...

Poker duhh!!!

We also spent quite abit on their darts games and got ourselves 3 teddy bears in total. Feeling satisfied with all the rides taken which include a self leisure ride of the bicycle boat (it was hilarious. We kept wanting to paddle towards the waterfall and ended getting ourselves abit wet), we went back to the hotel.

Along the way, we felt more daring and decided to finally try out the street food along our hotel.

This was what we bought back - bbq salted fish, oh jian, phai thai, chicken rice (didn't touch this. not nice). The rest was so good, I wanted to eat them again the next day. Especially the oh jian!!! For S$1 only. Cheap or whattttt? Can opt for seafood also.

Headed to suan lum again.
This time, we found some amazing treat. Which was the manicure shop which costs S$6 for a full set of manicure with personalised nail art.

Fronda and I were so happy we really really think this was the bestestestest thing that we bought during our trip there.

The design I chose. Very girly and princessy I feel.

Nice hor? I love it.

Fronda's.

Very princessy also.

Last day

This time I camwhore abit since I was the earliest to wake up (surprisingly. both of them are pigs).

You can see timo still sleeping at the back lor. PIG!

We then packed our lugguage and went down to put our things at the lobby. And guess where we went??? Pratunum mall again.... for the last time.

In the tuk tuk catered by the hotel again. Totally worth our money choosing that particular hotel man. Free internet (loads damn fast) and breakfast was okay (vegetarian but considering that I don't eat vege but find it okay, means it's passable! since there are alot of other things like french bread and stuff).

Shopped abit more.

Had icecream at the shopping mall next to pratunum before heading back to our hotel for the airport.

Our last meal in thailand was absolutely their mango sticky rice (signature dish).

Mango sticky rice in the airport. The rice v cute right!? Shaped just like a bear.

As compared to the street food one...

Both are good in my opinion but obviously, the airport one is more expensive lor and nicer presentation. Hence, I will feel that the airport one's better. Hahaha.

Also, had beef noodle before getting onto the plane.

We had so much fun in bkk that we didn't really want to come back if not for the fact that we already spent so much there. I spent around S$800-S$900 there. Hahaha. But it's worth it! I wouldn't mind going there again~! *thinking of my next travel trip already*
